About this event
Come and find out about the fascinating world of moquette. Discover the history and artistry behind the iconic fabric that adorns public transport seats. Author, broadcaster and transport historian (novelist – Wikipedia), Andrew Martin delves into the background and style of the material that millions of passengers take for granted every day – and which has adorned buses, trams, trolleybuses and tube trains since the 1920s.

Andrew’s talk takes place at Crich Tramway Village, home to the National Tramway Museum. The museum does not open normally on Fridays outside school holidays, and there are no trams running on this day, but this is a special opportunity for exclusive evening access to the main exhibition hall, and the museum’s Red Lion pub will also be open immediately after Andrew’s talk for drinks and bar snacks.
